Finding the Kaam Ya’tak Shrine
To locate the Kaam Ya’tak Shrine, Zelda players have a couple of options. They can travel eastward from the Outskirt Stable and then glide down from the Digdogg Suspension Bridge. Alternatively, they can make their way to the Ulria Grotto vicinity, situated to the southeast of the Dah Hesho Shrine in Akkala. The shrine’s entrance is concealed behind a fragile wall on the grotto’s northern edge, elevated from the water surface. Utilize a bomb arrow to break through this barrier and unveil the shrine’s entrance.
Kaam Ya’tak Shrine Trial of Power Challenge
Delving into the Kaam Ya’tak Shrine, adventurers are met with the “Trial of Power“. This legendary challenge tests not only one’s combat skills but also the ability to solve intricate puzzles, blending bravery with intellect in the heart of Hyrule’s mysteries.
The Puzzles Within
To open the doors, you need to use Magnesis on the smaller ball at the top and pull it back as far as possible. Then, you need to let it go and watch the bigger ball swing and hit the doors.
On the other side, there are spiked metal balls rolling on the path from both directions. Players need to freeze them with Stasis to get past them.
At the end of the corridor, there are two Guardian Scouts on the left. You can defeat them by any you want – you can practice a perfect parrying on them, as they don’t deal much damage.
Behind those two Guardian Scouts is a chest with a good sword called Edge of Duality and another stone ball on a wooden platform with some leaves. To make the ball roll, you will need to use a bow shoot the rope that holds the flame lamp above the leaves in front of it.
The ball will roll all the way to the other end of the area and open another big set of stone doors. After going through them, the right way is to turn left first so it is easier to find a chest that contains a Knight’s Broadsword.
As you move upwards towards the stairs and around the corner and you will encounter another pair of low level Guardian Scouts – defeating them is easy by using the weapons acquired from the last two chests.
Next, you will need to locate another big pair of stone doors on the left and a battering ram behind a gate on the right, but you should ignore them for now and continue around the corner.
You will arrive to a narrow hallway with a stone panel on the floor in front of you – this is actually a kind of seesaw that will tip players down into the abyss if they don’t freeze it with Stasis or run across fast enough.
After that, you will see a huge hammer on your left, by two big balls on a track with some obstacles in front of them. Basically, you need to move this hammer to hit the first ball, which will push the next one across the obstacle course and into some more stone doors that need opening. (And if the balls drop in the abyss, don’t worry, you will get new ones!)
It’s easy enough to understand – just keep hitting until it works!
With those doors open, you can easily grab the Ancient Core from the chest near it and follow the path until you reach the next puzzle: a pressure plate and another big ball in front of a ramp, a gap, and another of those tipping seesaw panels in the floor. First, you need to shoot the leaves under the ball with a fire arrow lit from the torch nearby. This will make the ball roll, literally – it’ll fall down the hole for now, but they keep spawning after that, so don’t worry if you drop it accidentally.
Then, you need to freeze the seesaw panel with Stasis, then turn to face the ball, and step on the pressure plate to trigger the ramp beneath the dropping ball to flip upwards, and propel the ball to their frozen panel and beyond.
You should try to time it so that you step on the plate just as the ball is reaching the end of that first ramp.
That’ll open the next set of doors, and now they’re back by the battering ram you saw earlier. Next, you need to step on the pressure plate behind it to drop the gate.
Then, you’ll need to cast Stasis on the ram and hit it several times with any weapon. When the Stasis breaks, the ram will go flying forwards along the track and knock through the next set of doors.
Before you go running through though, you should quickly turn back and they’ll see a breakable stone wall – you can break it up with a bomb to access a chest behind, rewarding you with a Silver Rupee.
Last but not least, it’s time to leave! You need to stand on the floor panel just in front of the crystal near the caged chest and hit it once. It’ll send you flying up in the air, where you can paraglide down to the exit platform, collect your reward and leave.
Kaam Ya’tak Shrine Treasures and Rewards
Bonus Chest: Before reaching the ramp’s challenge, keen observers might spot an isolated platform. A leap of faith with Paraglider will reward players with a chest containing a Great Flameblade.
Having navigated the labyrinth of puzzles, the Monk bestows upon the player the coveted Spirit Orb as a testament to your wit and valor.
